Quality of life of the elderly in bueng kan municipality, Mueang bueng kan district, bueng kan province

Abstract

            This research aimed to study 1) the quality of life of the elderly in Bueng Kan Municipality, 2) compare the quality of life of the elderly in Bueng Kan Municipality classified by gender, age, education level and occupation, and 3) propose guidelines for promoting the quality of life of the elderly in Bueng Kan Municipality. The sample group used in the research was 352 elderly people living in Bueng Kan Municipality. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, including number, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Inferential statistics were T-test and F-test. The reliability of the questionnaire was 0.894.

            The research results found that:

           1. The quality of life of the elderly in Bueng Kan Municipality, Mueang Bueng Kan District, Bueng Kan Province was at a high level overall. When considering each aspect, it was found that the aspect with the highest average value was physical, followed by mental, and the aspect with the lowest average value was environmental.

           2. Results of the comparison of the quality of life of the elderly in Bueng Kan Municipality Overall, the elderly in Bueng Kan Municipality, Mueang Bueng Kan District Bueng Kan Province, with different genders, ages, education levels, and occupations, have similar quality of life.

           3. Suggestions for improving the quality of life of the elderly in Bueng Kan Municipality, Mueang Bueng Kan District, Bueng Kan Province include organizing an elderly club that exercises, such as aerobics, tai chi, yoga, or bamboo dance.
