The Development of Reading Comprehension Skills for Grade 6 Students Using Skill-Based Worksheets

Abstract

           This research aimed to develop the reading comprehension skills of Grade 6 students and to compare the reading comprehension skills of Grade 6 students before and after using the exercises in the first semester of the academic year 2024. The results of the research found that after using the exercises for reading comprehension, 13 Grade 6 students at Khok Klang Somdet School, Somdet District, Kalasin Province had an average score of 82.31 percent for overall reading comprehension. When considering each aspect, it was found that the aspect of reading comprehension from advertisements had the highest average score of 83.85 percent, followed by the aspect of reading comprehension from stories with an average score of 82.31 percent, and the aspect of reading comprehension from news with the lowest average score of 80.77 percent. After comparing the use of the exercises for reading comprehension, Grade 6 students' reading comprehension scores increased from before using the exercises by 31.2 percent of the full score of 30 points.
