Public participation in community development in the Nong kung subdistrict administrative organization, Nam phong district, khon kaen province

Abstract

             This research aims to study 1) Public participation in community development 2) A comparison of public participation in community development across different districts And 3) Recommendations for enhancing the level of public participation in community development. The sample group consists of 374 residents living within the jurisdiction of the Nong Kung Subdistrict Administrative Organization, determined using Yamane’s formula. The data collection tool was a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.748.

Statistical methods used for data analysis include frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Hypothesis testing was conducted using t-test and f-test statistics.

          Research Findings: 1. Overall public participation in community development within the jurisdiction of Nong Kung Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen Province, was found to be at a high level. When considering each aspect individually, the highest average was in participation in evaluation, followed by participation in implementation, while the lowest average was in participation in decision-making. 2. Comparison of public participation in community development classified by gender, age, education level, occupation, and average monthly income revealed that there were no significant differences in participation levels across these demographic factors. That is, people with different gender, age, education, occupation, and income levels participated in community development at similar levels. And 3. Recommendations for enhancing public participation in community development within the Nong Kung Subdistrict Administrative Organization include: regularly organizing community forums at the village and subdistrict levels to provide opportunities for all groups of people to express their opinions
