Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the impact of recreational activities based on fundamental movement skills on the physical development of lower primary school students. The study focused on 17 first-grade students during the second semester of the 2024 academic year at Wihan Daeng Kindergarten School, under the jurisdiction of Saraburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The research tools comprised a detailed recreational activity plan and a physical skills assessment tailored for lower primary students. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including means and standard deviations, while qualitative data were examined through content analysis and descriptive narration. The results indicated that the students who engaged in recreational activities involving key fundamental motor skills—such as striking, catching and passing objects, throwing, and running—showed marked improvement in their physical abilities after the intervention compared to prior to participation. These findings suggest that well-structured recreational activities focusing on basic motor movements can effectively foster physical skill development and contribute positively to the overall well-being and enjoyment of young learners.
