The implementation of good governance principles in the administration of loei municipality, loei province

Abstract

          This research aims to study 1) public opinion on administrators according to the application of good governance in local government, 2) compare public opinion on administrators according to the application of good governance in local government classified by personal factors, and 3) public suggestions and guidelines for administrators according to the application of good governance in local government. The sample group used was citizens aged 18 years and over who were eligible to vote in Loei Municipality. The sample size was determined using Taro Yamane's calculation formula, totaling 390 people. The research instrument was a questionnaire with a reliability value of 0.880 The statistics used for analysis were number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and data analysis. Hypothesis testing was done using t-test and f-test.

           The results of research were found that: 1) The public’s opinion on the executives according to the application of good governance principles in local government of Loei Municipality, Loei Province, was at a high level overall (= 3.69). When considering each aspect, it was found that the aspect with the highest average value was the decentralization principle (= 4.17), followed by the equality principle (= 4.08), and the aspect with the lowest average value was the transparency principle (= 3.05). 1) Comparison of the public’s opinion on the executives according to the application of good governance principles in local government of Loei Municipality, Loei Province, classified by personal factors. Overall, the public with different statuses and ages had significantly different opinions on the executives according to the application of good governance principles in local government of Loei Municipality, Loei Province at a statistical level of 0.05. The public with different genders, education levels, occupations, and monthly incomes had no differences in their opinions on the executives according to the application of good governance principles in local government of Loei Municipality, Loei Province. 3) Recommendations for the public’s guidelines on the executives according to the application of good governance principles in local government of Loei Municipality include: There should be a method for checking budget spending to ensure value for money and efficient management. Easy to use and fast, focusing on developing various services such as cleaning, water maintenance, transportation system development, and public health care, etc.
