Report on the results of group process activities to develop mathematics process skills for kindergarten year 1 children

Abstract

           The purpose of this study was to compare the basic mathematical skills of kindergarten level 1 preschool children before and after participating in group process activities. The sample consisted of 15 preschool children aged 3–4 years, selected through purposive sampling. This research employed a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research instruments included (1) 15 learning experience plans based on group process activities to develop basic mathematical skills and (2) a 20-item test measuring basic mathematical skills. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. A dependent samples t-test was used to compare pretest and posttest scores, and the effectiveness index of the learning experience plans was calculated.

           The results revealed that the preschool children who participated in the group process activities demonstrated significantly higher basic mathematical skills after the intervention than before, at the .05 level of significance.
