About the Journal

Focus and Scope :

The Pāli–Theravāda Review Journal (PTRJ), ISSN xxxx-xxxx (Online), is an academic journal in the field of Pāli and Theravāda Buddhist studies published by the Mahavajiralongkorn Pāli Theravāda Royal College Foundation, Ranng Phikun Subdistrict, Kamphaeng Saen District, Nakhon Pathom Province. The journal was established as a scholarly platform dedicated to promoting systematic study, research, and the advancement of knowledge in Pāli studies and Theravāda Buddhism. It aims to disseminate high-quality academic work that contributes meaningfully to the development of contemporary Buddhist studies.

The journal is committed to fostering the publication of knowledge related to the Tipiṭaka, commentarial and sub-commentarial literature, and other significant texts in the Theravāda tradition, as well as studies in Pāli linguistics, Buddhist philosophy, ethics, history, and Buddhist intellectual heritage. It also welcomes analytical studies of texts, academically rigorous translations of Pāli scriptures, and scholarly critiques that enrich the field of Buddhist scholarship.

To provide an open and inclusive academic space, the journal encourages monks, researchers, scholars, and students to publish research articles, academic papers, translations, and critical reviews that have been thoroughly assessed through rigorous academic standards. The journal further supports the preservation, interpretation, and revitalization of ancient manuscripts and classical Buddhist literature in ways that are relevant to contemporary contexts, while upholding the spirit and essential principles of Theravāda Buddhism.

The journal also seeks to expand the scope of knowledge by embracing interdisciplinary approaches that connect Pāli and Buddhist studies with other academic fields such as linguistics, folklore, cultural studies, psychology, education, and community development, thereby promoting a more holistic understanding of the application of Theravāda principles in the modern world. In addition, the journal emphasizes the importance of scholarly networking at both national and international levels, the exchange of academic insights and research experiences, and the enhancement of publication standards through transparent editorial practices and adherence to international research ethics.

Peer Review Process :

The Pāli–Theravāda Review Journal employs a double-blind peer review system, in which both reviewers and authors remain anonymous to ensure fairness, transparency, and impartiality throughout the evaluation process. Every submitted manuscript is reviewed by at least three experts in the relevant field, who assess the accuracy of the content, academic quality, originality, and overall suitability for publication.

The review process follows the journal’s established evaluation criteria, using a clearly defined assessment form that covers content quality, research methodology, academic writing standards, and alignment with the journal’s scope. A manuscript will be accepted for publication only after the author has revised it thoroughly in accordance with the reviewers’ recommendations and the final decision of the editorial board.
