The Performance of Duties of the Village Committee in Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province.

Abstract

            The objectives of this research were: 1. To study the performance of village committees in Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province, 2. To compare the performance of village committees in Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province, classified by personal characteristics, and 3. To propose guidelines for the performance of village committees in Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province. This study employed both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The sample size was determined from a population of 2,226 village committee members using Taro Yamane's formula, resulting in a sample of 339 participants. Data was collected using questionnaires with content validity ranging from 0.66 to 1.00 and reliability of .948. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics including percentage, mean, and standard deviation for general sample information. Inferential statistics, including t-test and F-test, were used to compare the performance of village committees in Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province, classified by gender, age, education level, and occupation. The research findings revealed that: 1. The overall performance of village committees in Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province was at a high level. When considering individual aspects, the highest mean score was in economic promotion, followed by administration, while law enforcement and peacekeeping had the lowest mean score. 2. Comparing the performance of village committees with different personal characteristics showed that, overall, committee members of different genders and ages did not demonstrate significant differences in their performance. However, committee members with different education levels and occupations showed statistically significant differences in their performance at the .05 level. 3. Recommendations for improving village committee performance include: increasing communication channels for the public, ensuring comprehensive and fair law enforcement, and placing greater emphasis on the roles of students and youth in the community.
