PEOPLE DEMOCRATIC POLITICAL AWARENESS AFFECTING ON LOCAL ELECTIONS IN HUA THALE SUBDISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, MUEANG DISTRICT, NAKHON RATCHASIMA PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the level, 2) compare, and 3) present the political awareness of citizens in a democratic system that affects local elections in Hua Thale Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The research methodology is a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative research (with a reliability coefficient of 0.915) using a sample of 386 citizens, analyzed with descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and correlation coefficient; and qualitative research, collecting data from 9 key informants using descriptive content analysis. The research findings indicate that: 1. The overall level of political awareness of citizens in a democratic system affecting local elections in Hua Thale Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, is high (x̅=4.04). When considered in individual aspects, the level is also high. 2. The overall relationship between the Four Noble Truths (Ithipatha 4) and political awareness of citizens in a democratic system affecting local elections in Hua Thale Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, shows a positive correlation. The level of political awareness of citizens in a democratic system affecting local elections in Hua Thale Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province was moderate (r=0.745**), statistically significant at the 0.01 level, thus accepting the hypothesis. 3. The impact of political awareness of citizens in a democratic system on local elections in Hua Thale Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province was found to be: Regarding political understanding, citizens have knowledge about their rights, duties, and the roles of local administrative organizations. Regarding political participation, it was found that participation in voting, access to information, and exchange of opinions were positive. Regarding political attitudes, it was found that creating a space for constructive and transparent exchange of opinions helps citizens feel a sense of belonging to the community. Regarding political behavior, it was found that political awareness of citizens is directly related to the level of knowledge, belief, and the creation of a sense of political belonging.
