The Journal of Communication and Information Sciences in Asia (JCISA) is committed to maintaining high ethical standards in publication. This policy provides ethical guidelines for authors, editors, and reviewers to ensure transparency, fairness, and academic integrity throughout the peer-review and publication process.

 

Ethics of Authors

          Authors are the owners of manuscripts submitted as academic or research articles for publication in the Journal of Communication and Information Sciences in Asia. Authors must demonstrate honesty, integrity, and adherence to ethical standards in conducting research, carrying out their work, and reporting research results. Authors are required to follow the prescribed guidelines and ethical practices in their conduct.

  1. Authors must ensure that the manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration elsewhere.
  2. Authors must avoid plagiarism and properly cite all sources of information and ideas.
  3. Authorship must reflect actual contributions, and all listed authors must have made significant contributions to the work.
  4. Authors must disclose sources of funding and any potential conflicts of interest.
  5. For research involving human participants or animals, ethical approval must be obtained and stated in the manuscript.
  6. If significant errors are identified, authors must promptly notify the editorial office and cooperate in corrections or retractions.

Ethics of Editors

          The journal editor is responsible for directing the journal’s academic orientation and ensuring its quality by screening submitted manuscripts, managing the peer-review process in a fair and impartial manner, and making decisions on the acceptance or rejection of articles based on academic merit. The editor also ensures that publication practices comply with ethical standards and the journal’s policies, and coordinates with authors and reviewers to enhance the journal’s credibility and long-term academic sustainability.

  1. Editors must evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit and relevance to the journal’s scope without discrimination.
  2. Editors must maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
  3. Editors must not use unpublished materials for personal advantage.
  4. Editors must ensure that all manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process by qualified reviewers.
  5. Editors have the authority to reject or retract manuscripts involving ethical misconduct.

Ethics of Reviewers

          Reviewers are responsible for evaluating the quality of manuscripts in accordance with academic principles in a fair and objective manner by considering the accuracy of the content, the appropriateness of the methodology, the scholarly value of the work, and its relevance to the scope of the journal. They are required to provide constructive comments to improve the manuscript, maintain the confidentiality of the information and manuscripts under review, disclose any potential conflicts of interest, and complete the review process within the specified timeframe in order to uphold the journal’s standards and credibility.

  1. Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively and fairly based on academic merit.
  2. Reviewers must keep all manuscript information confidential.
  3. Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest that could bias their evaluation.
  4. Reviewers must provide constructive and professional feedback.
  5. Reviewers should complete reviews within the specified timeframe.

Misconduct Handling

  1. The journal will investigate any allegation of plagiarism, data fabrication, or ethical misconduct.
  2. The journal reserves the right to reject or retract manuscripts found to violate ethical standards.
  3. In serious cases, the author’s affiliated institution may be notified.

Complaints and Appeals

          Authors may submit complaints or appeals regarding editorial decisions in written form with supporting evidence.
