Evolution of Shin-chan: Media Transformation from Physical Rebel to Transcultural Communication Ethics in the Digital Disruption Era

Abstract

This academic article aims to (1) analyze the transformation of the character "Shin-chan" from a physical rebel to a communication symbol in digital culture, (2) explore transcultural communication ethics via social media, and (3) evaluate the impact of digital disruption on reinterpreting past inappropriate behaviors into modern communication tools. The study reveals that in the analog era, Shin-chan’s actions were defined as a "physical rebellion" challenging social norms through bodily defiance. However, during digital disruption, these behaviors have been deconstructed and redefined through transculturalism, becoming digital icons used for emotional expression and creating "safe zones" for users as the Fifth Estate. This transformation indicates that digital media ethics have shifted from state or institutional regulation to self-awareness and personal accountability in a borderless digital world.
