Big 5 Personality Factors of Employees and Quality of Work in Maintenance, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand

Abstract

This objective research is to study 1) the five personality factors of employees, 2) the quality of employees' electrical maintenance work, and 3) the relationship between the five personality factors and the quality of employees' electrical maintenance work, Electricity Authority of Thailand. The population in this quantitative study includes engineers and operational employees in the electrical maintenance department of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand. By simple sampling method, there was a sample of 214 people. The tools used in the study were questionnaires, and data were analyzed with statistics, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test and Pearson Correlation. The results found that most respondents are male, aged 40 years and over, have a bachelor's degree and have been working for 21 years or more. Overall, the five personality factors are at a moderate level. When classified according to the components, the components at a high level were the components of being mindful and open to experience. Components that were at a moderate level, in order, included emotional instability. Components of consent and elements of courage and self-expression Quality of employees' work found that the overall level was moderate. Quality at a high level includes maintenance management. Quality at a moderate level includes responding to customer needs. The quality at the lowest level included the ability to control accidents from work. The analysis of the relationship between the five personality factors and the overall quality of work found that both factors were significantly related in the same direction at 0.05.
