The Night Life of The Students’ University: A Case Study of the Students’ University in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Purpose: 1) To study the causes of students' nightlife, and 2) To study the impact of students' nightlife: A case study of students at a university in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
Methods: This is qualitative research using the In-depth interview method with Semi-structured interview and Observation from key informants, namely 1) undergraduate students aged 19-22 years of 5 people, with the selection criteria being that they must have experience of going out at night at least 3 times per month in the past 6 months, and 2) advisors of 2 people. Data were analyzed using Thematic analysis and writing a report.
Results: The research results are as follows: 1) Stress and stress relief: most students stated that going out at night was a way to relieve stress from both academics and family problems. 2) Influence of friends and socializing: friends have a great influence on persuading students to go out at night, especially the fear of being excluded from the group. 3) Image and identity building: some students see going out at night as a way to show maturity and indicate modernity. 4) Impact of going out at night: going out at night has many effects, including health, academics, and relationships with family.
Application: The study findings can serve as guidelines for developing mentoring programs, promoting life skills, and formulating university-level policies appropriate to the local context.
