Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this research were to develop and validate a causal relationship model of factors influencing safety compliance and safety participation of the drivers of consumer goods carrier companies in Bangkok & metropolitan region and the eastern region of Thailand. The researchers used quantitative methods which involved empirical research. The research tool was a questionnaire to collect data from 546 drivers of consumer goods carrier companies in the Bangkok & metropolitan region and the eastern region of Thailand. The statistics used in data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and structural equation model analysis.
It was found that the model was consistent with the empirical data. Goodness of fit measures were found to be: Chi–square = 464.348 (df = 420, p–value = 0.650); Relative Chi–square (x2/df) = 1.105; Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) = 0.953; Adjusted Goodness of Fit Index (AGFI) = 0.934; and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) = 0.012. It was also found that; (1) worker involvement, safety procedures, and safety climate had a positive and direct influence on safety knowledge. (2) worker involvement, safety procedures, safety climate, and safety knowledge had a positive and direct influence on safety motivation. (3) safety knowledge and safety motivation had a positive and direct influence on safety compliance; and (4) safety knowledge and safety motivation had a positive and direct influence on safety participation.
