The Guidelines for EnhancingEconomic Cooperation between Viet Nam and Thailand

Abstract

          The objectives of this study were: 1) study the economic cooperation between Viet Nam and Thailand at present; 2) study the opportunities and challenges that may affect the economic cooperation between Viet Nam and Thailand; and 3) propose guidelines for enhancing the economic relationship between Viet Nam and Thailand in the future. This study used the method of qualitative research. The tools used to collect data were 1) study of existing documents including primary and secondary data 2) a field study using specific interviews and open-ended questions. The results showed that relations between Viet Nam and Thailand in the past were sometimes confrontational, sometimes cooperative. However, at very long last, with the tendency toward peace, cooperation and development in the world, as well as the need for cooperation and development between the two countries, the relationship between Viet Nam and Thailand, especially the bilateral economic relationship is entering an unprecedented stage of best cooperation.
