Creating Limited-Note Improvisation Teaching Materials using 12 Bar Blues Backing Track for Beginner Piano Students

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to create limited-Note Improvisation Teaching materials using 12 Bar Blues Backing Track for beginners. The researcher has studied documents related research to concepts and music theory as a guideline for creating research tools and to find the effectiveness of instructional media. The case study was conducted at Dara Music School in Chiang Mai Province and the effectiveness of the instruction media was evaluated using a sample group of six piano students. The lesson plan consisted of 8 lessons with a total of 9 teaching hours. The research instruments included instruction media, a teacher's guide, and evaluation forms.

The research showed that the creating Blues of limited-Note Improvisation Teaching materials using 12 Bar Blues Backing Track for beginners, beginner created by the researcher, was effective with a score of 80/83, which was consistent with the initial hypothesis. The study demonstrated that this instructional media is a viable option for teaching blues piano improvisation to beginners.
