The relationship between new public management and performances of public service provision by municipalities in Sakon Nakhon Province

Abstract

This research on new public administration approaches and the provision of public services by municipalities in Sakon Nakhon. This study covers all municipal areas in Sakon Nakhon. The objectives are to 1) study the level of public service management of municipalities in Sakon Nakhon 2) study the relationship between factors 3) synthesize new public management approaches that are suitable for public service management of municipalities in Sakon Nakhon Province. The researcher used a mixed research method that is quantitative. and qualitative The sample group used in the research was 400 people. Statistics used in data analysis were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. and Pearson correlation analysis Important informants include municipal administrators. and heads of government agencies obtained from a purposive selection of 14 people and then written into descriptive data. The results of the research found that 1) the overall provision of public services by municipalities in Sakon Nakhon is at a high level. 2) the factors of new public management are related to the provision of public services by municipalities in Sakon Nakhon with statistical significance at the 0.01 level, (r = 0.686) and 3) the public sector management approach New guidelines suitable for the management of public services of the municipality in Sakon Nakhon include: (1) The municipality should set clear goals and indicators for service delivery. By taking into account local identity and arranging priorities according to main and secondary missions. (2) Municipalities should reduce steps in providing services to citizens and use modern technology to provide services. (3) Municipalities should integrate Working with all sectors in the area (4) Municipalities should reduce duplication of services with government agencies in the area.
