Abstract

The objectives of this article are: 1. to analyze the unique characteristics and learning behaviors of Generation Alpha, 2. to synthesize concepts and principles for designing competency-based and flexible curricula, and 3. to present active learning strategies that integrate Artificial Intelligence for adaptive learning. Through a systematic synthesis of relevant literature and research, the findings indicate that Generation Alpha learners are distinguished by their demands for speed, personalization, and engagement. Consequently, educational frameworks ought to prioritise hands-on practice and participatory learning experiences by creating a "learning ecosystem."  The proposed approaches are as follows; 1. gamified learning design; 2. phenomenon-based or interdisciplinary integrated learning; 3. the use of AI as a "learning companion;" 4. micro-learning that enables students to become "content creators;" and 5. challenge-based learning. Therefore, curriculum design should be highly personalized and must include the following; 1. competency-based frameworks; 2. modular structures; 3. interdisciplinary integration; and 4. a focus on digital citizenship and ethics. Furthermore, active learning strategies that incorporate AI for diverse learners include 1. data-driven learner analytics, 2. flexible learning pathways, 3. adaptive instructional systems, and 4. the teacher's role as a social and emotional supporter. Essential skills to be fostered include 1. humane pedagogy, 2. self-regulation, 3. resilience, and 4. an emphasis on emotional safety. Ultimately, the effective development of Generation Alpha is fostered through empathy, non-judgmental listening, and the transformation of the teacher's role into that of a facilitator of learning.
