Conditions, problems, and solution guidelines for managing of Mekong River bank protection dam construction projects in Lao people's democratic republic

This research aimed to study the level of status, problems, and solutions in the management of the Mekong riverbank protection dam construction projects. This quantitative research was conducted by collecting data from 122 government personnel involved in the management of the Mekong River bank protection dam projects. The sample was stratified by agency affiliation, and random sampling within each stratum was done by drawing lots without replacement. A questionnaire was used as the data collection tool. The statistics used for data analysis included means and standard deviations. The results of the research revealed that 1. the management of the Mekong River bank protection dam construction projects had a high average value both overall and in each aspect. The average values were ranked from highest to lowest as follows: personnel management, project management methods management, materials and equipment and machinery management, and budget management, respectively. 2. The management problems of the Mekong River bank protection dam construction projects had a moderate average value both overall and in each aspect. The average values were ranked from highest to lowest as follows: problems of project management methods management, problems of materials and equipment and machinery management, personnel problems, and budget problems, respectively. 3. Guideline solutions for the Mekong River bank protection dam construction projects' management were ranked in order of importance as follows: guideline solutions for project management methods, materials and machinery, budget, and personnel.
