Production and marketing factors affecting the sustainability of the Chaloem Phra Kiat Mulberry Silk Farming Group in Yonok Subdistrict, Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province

This research aimed to examine the production and marketing factors influencing the sustainability of the Sericulture Community Enterprise in Yonok Subdistrict, Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province. Challenges in production and marketing practices, which limit income stability and long-term growth for local farmers, motivated the study. A quantitative survey was conducted with 100 community members engaged in mulberry cultivation and silkworm farming. Data were collected regarding production practices, marketing conditions, and the level of community sustainability. The findings revealed that most farmers cultivate mulberry on relatively small plots, adopt local mulberry and silkworm varieties suitable for the area, and earn a continuous income from sericulture. There is still work to be done on production and marketing, especially when it comes to agricultural standards and pricing strategies. However, the community demonstrated strong sustainability, especially in environmental conservation and social engagement. In conclusion, enhancing production capacity and marketing effectiveness can strengthen the economic, social, and environmental sustainability of sericulture enterprises. The study highlights the importance of government and private sector support in ensuring that mulberry and silkworm farming in Chiang Rai achieves stable growth and competitiveness in the future.
