New generation overseas Chinese: A case study of Chinese who legally worked in Thailand (2022-2025)

Abstract

This research aims to 1. examine the reasons behind the decision-making and needs of Chinese individuals who come to work in Thailand legally, 2. investigate the challenges faced by Chinese workers in Thailand, and 3. propose solutions to the problems encountered by Chinese individuals working legally in Thailand. This project was qualitative research. Key informants were selected using purposive sampling, with specific criteria for the sample group: 10 Chinese individuals who have decided to work in Thailand and 3 experts. Interviews were used as the research tool. The data was then organized and analyzed using content analysis. The results showed that 1. the decision of Chinese individuals to move to work in Thailand was influenced by economic stability, career growth opportunities, and better quality of life. The younger Chinese generation prioritized personal development over financial gain, 2. the second point highlights
the complexity of legal procedures, language and cultural gaps, limited access to labor rights, and lack of accurate information. Improving the public administration system, providing cross-cultural training, and offering clear information can reduce conflicts and enhance work efficiency. 3. Promoting transparent management, creating easy-to-understand service systems, providing training to reduce conflicts, and monitoring agencies will help foreign workers perform efficiently and protect their rights, ultimately benefiting the economy in the long term.
