Motivation for learning Chinese of Chinese teaching major students’ year 4, Udon Thani Rajabhat University

The objectives of this research were 1. study the motivation in learning Chinese and 2. explore ways to promote motivation in learning Chinese among fourth-year Chinese language teaching students at Udon Thani Rajabhat University. The sample consisted of 18 fourth-year Chinese language teaching students, Faculty of Education, Udon Thani Rajabhat University. This survey research was conducted. The results indicated that external factors such as teachers and educational institutions had an average score of 4.61, society had an average score of 4.72, and family had an average score of 4.56. The two internal factors, interests in various areas, had an average score of 4.67, and future Chinese language use had an average score of 4.67. Based on these findings, guidelines for promoting students’ motivation to learn Chinese were identified, contributing to improved teaching and learning effectiveness, planning, and further development of the academic program.
