An Analytical Study of the Perfection of Generosity and the Promotion of Volunteer Spirit in Ban Laeng Ngiu Community, Changhan District, Roi Et Province

Abstract

         This study aims to analyze the role of Tan Barami (the practice of giving to accumulate merit) in promoting volunteerism within the Ban Laung Ngio community, located in Changhan Subdistrict, Changhan District, Roi Et Province. The research focuses on examining the community's practice of giving, the types of donations made, and the impact on community unity and social development. A qualitative research methodology was used, employing in-depth interviews, observations, and focus group discussions with community leaders, monks, and local residents. Descriptive data analysis.

         The findings reveal that the community engages in Tan Barami through the four types of giving: Amisa Tan (material offerings), such as food and resources donated to the temple and the less fortunate; Dhamma Tan (the giving of knowledge), including the sharing of local wisdom; Abbaya Tan (the giving of forgiveness), fostering conflict resolution; and Viriya Tan (the giving of physical effort), through volunteer activities aimed at developing local infrastructure and public facilities. These acts contribute to enhancing community harmony and a sense of shared responsibility. This research demonstrates that the practice of Tan Barami plays a crucial role in fostering volunteerism, strengthening community bonds, and contributing to the sustainable development of the society.
