Abstract

This Article aimed to study (1) to study the current state of internal supervision at Ban Pongkasang School under the Nakhon Ratchasima Primary Educational Service Area Office 4 (2) to develop an internal supervision model for the school and (3) to evaluate the implementation of the developed internal supervision model.  This study employed a mixed-methods research design, divided into two distinct phases. Phase 1 involved a qualitative study of internal supervision at Banpongkasang School under the Nakhonratchasima Primary Educational Service Area Office 4. Data were collected through focus group discussions with the school principal and four teachers responsible for internal supervision. Additionally, best practices were identified through semi-structured interviews with three purposively selected experts—school directors at the provincial and district levels known for excellence in supervision. Data were synthesized using content analysis to establish guidelines for the design of the supervision model. Phase 2 focused on the development of the internal supervision model. This phase integrated qualitative methods, including a drafting process involving the school administrator, staff, the researcher, and thesis advisors (8 participants in total), and quantitative methods to evaluate the model. The model’s appropriateness and feasibility were assessed by five experts using a 5-point Likert questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Mean () and Standard Deviation (S.D.).The research findings were as follows: 1. Current State of Internal Supervision: Banpongkasang School faced significant challenges due to its context as a small school with limited specialized personnel. Consequently, the supervision workload fell on a small group of teachers, leading to inconsistent monitoring and reporting, which hindered systematic instructional development. 2. The Developed Model: The internal supervision model consists of five key components: 1) Objectives, 2) Principles,
3) Implementation Process, 4) Evaluation, and 5) Success Conditions. The implementation process itself comprises five steps: (1) assessing current states, problems, and needs; (2) planning and selecting alternatives; (3) creating media and tools; (4) conducting supervision (utilizing the PDCA cycle, Professional Learning Communities (PLC), and collaborative networks); and (5) evaluation. 3. Evaluation Results: The experts rated the overall internal supervision model at the highest level of appropriateness (= 4.95, S.D. = 0.04) and the highest level of feasibility (= 4.83, S.D. = 0.09).

The research findings contribute to transforming internal supervision from a reliance on individual specialists to a participatory approach involving all teachers and collaborative networks. This transition effectively addresses personnel constraints in small-sized schools, enabling the institution to manage supervision inclusively, continuously, and systematically through the PDCA cycle and collaborative networks.
