Guidelines for operating the student care and assistance system of Ban Sri Phanom School Under the Surat Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office, Area 2

Abstract

This study aims to examine the current situation, issues, and development guidelines for the student support system at Ban Sriphanom School, under the Surat Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. A mixed-method research approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative methods, was employed. The sample group consisted of 13 administrators and homeroom teachers. Research instruments included questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis utilized basic statistics such as mean and standard deviation, along with content analysis from interviews.

The findings indicate that the current implementation of the student support system is at a high level (overall mean = 4.10, standard deviation = 0.56). Among the different aspects examined, the highest mean score was found in the area of student development and promotion (mean = 4.18, standard deviation = 0.58), reflecting an emphasis on life skills development, career guidance, and moral and ethical promotion for students. Conversely, the lowest mean score was observed in the area of student referral (mean = 4.00, standard deviation = 0.69), highlighting limitations in the process of referring students to external agencies.

Development guidelines derived from the interviews include systematic student data management, the use of behavioral assessment tools for screening, the implementation of life skills development and career guidance activities, systematic prevention and intervention for student issues, and the establishment of collaborative networks with external organizations to support student referrals. The findings underscore the importance of continuous improvement to enhance the effectiveness of the student support system.
