Development of early childhood writing skills using 13 basic line drawing exercises

Abstract

The purpose of this research was: 1) to develop the writing skills of preschool children using a basic 13-line tracing worksheet, and 2) to compare the writing skills of preschool children before and after participating in activities using the basic 13-line tracing worksheet. The sample consisted of 27 preschool children, both male and female, aged 4-5 years, who were studying in Kindergarten 2/1, first semester of the academic year 2024, at Wat Thung Lad Ya School "Lad Ya Wittaya," selected through purposive sampling. The research tools used included a lesson plan for activities using the basic 13-line tracing worksheet and a writing skills test for preschool children. Data analysis was conducted using basic statistics, including mean, standard deviation, and t-test.

The research findings revealed that the writing skills of preschool children before and after participating in the activities using the basic 13-line tracing worksheet had average scores of 8.04 and 18.81, respectively. When comparing the scores before and after the activities using the basic 13-line tracing worksheet, it was found that the writing skills test scores of the preschool children after the activities were higher than before the activities.
