The Development of Grade Point Average (GPA) Follow-up and Advising System for Undergraduate Students who are at Risk of Termination of Mahasarakham University Student Status

Abstract

This study aims to develop Grade Point Average (GPA) follow-up and an Advising
System for undergraduate students who are at risk of termination of their Mahasarakham
University student status and to study the satisfaction of the user of Grade Point Average (GPA)
follow-up and Advising System for undergraduate Students who are at Risk of Termination
of Mahasarakham University Student Status. The sample group consisted of 2,102 people
comprising 1) undergraduate students with a cumulative grade point average (GPAX) less than
2.00, the population was equal to 1,817 people by simple random sampling. 2) 266 advisors by
simple random sampling and 3) 19 academic staff from all faculties by specifc selection with
3 system evaluation experts. The tools used in the study consisted of 1.1) system assessment
from experts and 1.2) user satisfaction questionnaire. 2) technical tools developed on
microcomputers including 2.1) Windows 10 for 64 Bit operating system, 2.2) ASP Classic
development language for machine servers and Microsoft Access97 for offce systems (Back
Offce), and 2.3) the database which is Oracle installed on the server by using Windows
Server 2012 operating system. In the testing part, the program was tested in parallel with the
programming to look for bugs and make corrections. The statistics used in the research were
percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The study found that 1) the new system developed was developed by ASP Classic
and Access97 and Oracle database management system which is a database shared with the
university. This is an additional channel for tracking academic results and providing advice for advisors for the academic staff of faculties and students with basic information for consulting
through the educational service system, and 2) users of the system are satisfed with the use
of the Grade Point Average (GPA) follow-up and Advising System for Undergraduate Students
who are at Risk of Termination of their Mahasarakham University Student Status for overall in
a high level.
