Abstract

The connection between higher education and the labor market has become an increasingly vital concern in modern educational systems. In Thailand, although basic education offers organized systems to facilitate student progression through educational stages, higher education does not possess a coherent framework to assist graduates in transitioning to the labor market. Consequently, numerous graduates are compelled to pursue jobs autonomously, lacking institutional assistance that connects academic results with labor market requirements, resulting in structural discrepancies. This study seeks to (1) assess the structural deficiencies in the graduate transition system between higher education institutions and the labor market in Thailand, and (2) evaluate the degree to which universities synchronize their educational achievements with labor market demands. The study utilizes a qualitative methodology grounded in the review of pertinent literature, educational policy, and job market reports. The results demonstrate that Thai universities predominantly emphasize graduate employability, offering less assistance for entrepreneurship and job creation. Furthermore, institutional mechanisms including employment matching systems, career advice services, and university-industry partnership are still inadequately established. These constraints result in skill mismatches and limit graduates' job prospects. The report advocates for enhancing university–industry partnerships, establishing robust career support systems, and incorporating entrepreneurship instruction into higher education courses. Such initiatives would improve graduate transition systems and foster the growth of graduates as entrepreneurs rather than merely job searchers..
