LEGEND OF THE OCCURRENCE OF THE VISHNU FOOTPRINT'S IN BRAHMANISM-HINDUISM

Abstract

The Vishnu’s footprint is the footprint of the Lord Vishnu who had stamped in many holy places, it was the symbol of prosperity of Vaishnavism, and as the symbol of Vishnu to defeat the injustice of the worlds. The Vishnu’s footprint often appears on the dark stone or rock, there are footprints in both of the pair and single. There are five places in the legend,1) the Vishnu’s footprint at the Haridwar,2) the Vishnu’s footprint at Padrinath,3) the Vishnu’s footprint at Gayasisa,4) the Vishnu’s footprint at Ramesh, and 5) the Vishnu’s footprint at Varanasi. The occurrence of the Vishnu’s footprint is not accident but it arose from the invitation of the deities in the heaven to request him to come down for defeating the demon who was suffered trouble all around the worlds. By the way, Vishnu has stamped the footprint to followers who are disciplined and dedicated to him as the spiritual anchor to remind him and for worship to be the highest good fortune.
