Methods for Strengthening Faith in Theravada Buddhist Scriptures

Abstract

This research article aims to propose strategies to strengthen faith in Thai society. This qualitative research employs documentary analysis, focusing on texts from the Tipitaka, commentaries, and contemporary Buddhist literature. The target group consists of the "Four Buddhist Assemblies" (monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen) who demonstrate reverence for Buddhism.The findings reveal that reinforcing faith among Thai Buddhists requires integrating the Noble Eightfold Path and the Ovada-Patimokkha into daily life. This includes ethical behavior in both personal and professional aspects, ensuring no harm to oneself or others. Monastics (monks and nuns) and laypeople (laymen and laywomen) make up the "Four Buddhist Assemblies", with the monastics acting as their leaders. Monks and nuns must strictly adhere to the Vinaya (monastic code), setting an example of moral conduct that fosters faith in those who observe them.
