Developing Functional Competency for Uthai thani Provincial Buddhist Ecclesiastical Official Monk

Abstract

This research article aims to 1) study the level of performance competency, 2) analyze the relationship between development according to the Four Foundations of Mindfulness and the performance competency of monks in Uthai Thani Province, and 3) propose guidelines for developing the performance competency of monks in Uthai Thani Province. A mixed-methods research approach was used, employing a survey research method with a questionnaire that has a reliability value of.84, targeting a population of 296 monks in Uthai Thani Province. The statistical methods used in the research included percentage, mean, standard deviation, and inferential statistics, as well as Pearson correlation coefficient analysis and in-depth interviews with 23 key informants using a structured interview format and descriptive content analysis. The research findings revealed that 1) the level of self-development according to the Four Foundations of Mindfulness among monks in Uthai Thani Province, overall, had a mean score at a high level ( = 3.63, = 0.52), and 2) the level of performance competency analysis of monks in Uthai Thani Province, overall, also had a mean score at a high level ( = 3.58, = 0.56) 2) According to the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, the relationship between development and the performance competency of monks in Uthai Thani Province showed a high positive correlation (r = 0.839**), with statistical significance at the.01 level. 3) Guidelines for developing monks' performance competency in Uthai Thani Province include the following areas for development: 3.1) the ability to present oneself appropriately; 3.2) the ability to coordinate; 3.3) the ability to communicate and use technology for communication; 3.4) the ability to learn and adapt; and 3.5) the ability to work as a team and maintain interpersonal relationships.
