Communication Innovations for Investigative Journalism

This documentary research aimed to: (1) examine communication innovations affecting investigative journalism processes, (2) investigate the relationship between communication innovations and investigative reporting, and (3) analyze the significance of communication innovations in investigative journalism. Data were collected from academic documents, textbooks, research studies, and lesson-learned records from participants in investigative journalism training programs.
The findings revealed that digital communication innovations significantly enhance investigative journalism processes, including issue identification, information gathering, data analysis, fact-checking, and news dissemination. Digital technologies improve efficiency, speed, accessibility, and accuracy in investigative reporting. Effective investigative journalism requires systematic planning, multi-source verification, and responsible reporting. The study contributes knowledge applicable to the development of citizen journalists, media professionals, and communication practitioners in producing high-quality investigative journalism that benefits society
