2026-06-302026-06-30421429Modernising School Administration Through Digital Management Practices in Public Secondary Schools in Lagos State, Nigeria
https://so15.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/SIU/article/view/2968

Technology is gradually replacing the traditional, manual administrative processes in the education sector. The traditional methods are often plagued by delays and inefficiencies, leading to a high level of wastage in the operational mode of educational institutions. On this premise, this study aimed to provide a localised perspective on the impact of digital integration within the unique context of a highly diverse, resource-constrained environment like Lagos. The research investigated the relationship between digital management practices (e-supervision, e-marking, and e-communication) and administrative effectiveness in public senior secondary schools in Lagos State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey research design was adopted. A multi-stage sampling approach was used to select three Education Districts, 70 schools, and 3,150 teachers using the stratified random sampling, simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques, respectively. Principals in all the 70 selected schools were chosen purposively. Data were collected using a validated instrument entitled: "Digital Management Practices and Administrative Effectiveness Questionnaire” (DMPAEQ), which achieved a reliability coefficient of .78. The three hypotheses were tested using the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation at a .05 level of significance. The findings revealed a statistically significant positive relationship between all three digital management practices and administrative effectiveness. These results lead to the rejection of the three null hypotheses, suggesting that the adoption of e-supervision, e-marking, and e-communication is vital for enhancing administrative functions, such as staff supervision, assessment processes, and stakeholder interaction, in public secondary schools in Lagos State. The study underscores the need for strategic investment in ICT infrastructure and targeted capacity-building programmes to bridge the gap between the enthusiasm for digital tools and their practical implementation, ensuring that administrative systems can meet the demands of an evolving educational landscape.
Jacob AdeyanjuPeace IfeomaJumoke Omotola

https://so15.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/SIU/article/view/2903

The "field of play" doctrine constitutes a fundamental principle of protection of autonomy of judges, referees, or umpires during a sports competition and is viewed as an essential protection of finality of their autonomous decisions on the fields. This doctrine, which encompasses significant values associated with fairness in sports games, is core to the sports justice for protecting autonomous powers of judges, referees, or umpires during a sports competition. The contribution of these values to autonomy of judges, referees, or umpires has been established by the lex ludica (law of the game) and lex sportiva (rules and regulations of global sports). Main dispute-resolution bodies in various sports jurisdictions generally refuse to overturn on-field decisions by referees, umpires, or judges (such as fouls, point deductions, or disqualifications) unless athletes and teams clearly prove bias, unfair, bad faith, arbitrariness, or a gross legal error. However, they sometimes serve as the guardians of "field of play" doctrine by ensuring that all autonomous decisions on the fields strictly adhere to the foundational principles of this doctrine. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) also protects this doctrine by acting as the ultimate guardian of finality of their autonomous decisions in the fields
Pedithep Youyuenyong

https://so15.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/SIU/article/view/2948

This study examines service provider innovations influencing Indian couples' decisions to choose Hua Hin, Thailand, as a destination wedding venue, explores service providers' adaptation to Indian wedding cultural practices, and synthesizes knowledge regarding the role of service innovation in attracting the international wedding market. A qualitative approach using critical ethnography was employed. Data were collected from 20 key informants, comprising 15 executives of five-star hotels and 5 professional wedding planners in Hua Hin, selected through purposive sampling, via in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participant observation. Data quality was ensured through triangulation. Data were analyzed using content, thematic, and critical analysis. The findings synthesize service provider innovations into a four-dimensional model: (1) culturally aligned service design, (2) process and technological innovations for remote wedding planning, (3) experiential communication and marketing, and (4) organizational and network-based collaboration. These four dimensions influence perceived value and destination selection decisions, significantly strengthening competitive advantage and positioning Hua Hin as a sustainable international wedding destination.
Punnaporn WongjunpenNopparat Boonpienpon

https://so15.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/SIU/article/view/3170

This academic article aims to analyze the dual impacts of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in learning and work, emphasizing the relationship between increased efficiency and the risk of deterioration in human critical thinking processes. While the use of AI significantly saves time and enhances work quality, the use of opaque Open Chat systems may lead to cognitive offloading and cognitive debt. This article proposes solutions through promoting metacognition and utilizing structured prompting techniques, such as Chain of Thought, to ensure humans remain the primary controllers of the cognitive process. The novel contribution synthesized in this study is the proposal of a cognitive scaffolding paradigm through a 5-step protocol and a metacognitive feedback system, shifting the role of AI from a substitute to a coaching tool that continuously stimulates human cognitive processes. The findings suggest that the future of human-AI coexistence depends not solely on technological advancements, but on human capacity to maintain critical thinking skills and decision-making abilities under various conditions.
Phansak Phungngam
